A special pre-dance curriculum is offered for the very young, starting at age 3. This is a combination class designed to develop the student's aptitude and love of the dance. Three subjects included are the basics of ballet, tap and acrobatics.
Children’s Ballet/Transition
From age 6 years, this class is designed to introduce the student to serious ballet with the introduction of classical music. It is a 1 1/2 hour combination class that consists of formal barre exercises and center practice with the objective of gradually building the student's knowledge and terminology. Jazz and Tap are also introduced.
These classes are graded by age and ability for all ages. The method used in this class follows the Royal Academy syllabus as closely as possible. Students wishing to achieve advanced levels are encouraged to take more than one class a week. It is solely at the teacher's determination as to when a student may progress to pointe shoes.
This is a form that encompasses modern jazz and Broadway style character jazz together with other current forms. Classes for age 6 years and up according to ability and age. Students enrolling for this form are encouraged to also take ballet if possible.
Fun class of the very latest contemporary moves and techniques offered for all ages and adults. Danced to current popular music carefully selected for the appropriate age of the class.
A dramatic form of dance which interprets the lyrics of the song with flowing modern dance movements. This class is offered to students already enrolled in ballet. Progress in this class will be limited without some level and knowledge of ballet.
Tap is offered as a full curriculum one hour class from beginner to advanced for all ages.
In addition tap is introduced to pre-school students in the combination class and also in the Transition class
The tap curriculum is designed to promote motor skills and quickness of thought progressing to the more advanced intricacies of the
upper levels.
Classes from age 6. All 'soft tricks', i.e. walkovers, presses, etc. with progression to the more advanced 'heavy tricks', i.e. front and back handsprings, tucks, etc. popular for cheerleading
This is a class designed to develop the student's aptitude and ability to sing with a group using basic harmonies with the emphasis on vocal performance. Students may enroll for voice only. Advancement to the Performing Vocal Group is by audition and determined by the vocal director.
Dance Company: American Musical Theatre Company
The dance company was formed in 1975 as a showcase for Bay Area talent, making their debut at the Showboat Dinner Theatre starring Broadway’s Larry Kert. A long list of performances followed which included the 40th Anniversary of the USO with Bob Hope, and the Latin American Fiesta with Desi Arnaz and Vikki Carr. The company appeared with the Connie Stevens Las Vegas Revue, the Florida Orchestra with Ann Reinking, Ringling Brothers Renaissance Gala, and numerous appearances with 30 piece orchestra “Dimensions in Sound” thoroughout the state.
They received recognition for their opening act performance with Julius LaRosa at the USO Italian Festival. Other performances included the opening of the Suncoast Dome (Tropicana Field), Super Bowl XXV, various half-time shows for the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Junior members appeared weekly on the TV show ‘The Club’ both as hosts and performers. The group has appeared with Lee Greenwood during Desert Storm, Charlie Pride, actor James Stewart and John Forsythe of the hit TV show Dynasty. The group has successfully entered many dance competitions winning first places and high point score awards.
Many former members have continued on to Broadway, professional dance companies, as directors and choreographers nationally. Our most famous past member at present is Nick Carter of the ‘Backstreet Boys’, see our Photo Album page for photos of his most recent visit to the studio to see old friends and observe rehearsals. Members of the company range in age from 7 years old through to adults. Potential members are asked to audition for membership in one of our five companies. The emphasis of the company is on all around perfection in the various forms of dance and theatre.
